Huawei Sends Off 10 Indonesian Top Talents to Join 2022 Asia Pacific Seeds for the Future



In a prideful speech for the potential and competence shown by the students selected for the Seeds for the Future program, Jacky Chen, CEO of Huawei Indonesia proclaimed that as a provider of ICT solutions, as well as a company that attaches great importance to research, Huawei puts high value on various technology education initiatives for talents from an early age. Huawei really understands the importance of competent digital talent for the progression of the business world as well as the progress of the nation.

“It is to that end we continue to promote sustainable programs such as the Seeds for the Future program, which has been one of Huawei's flagship programs since 2008. The ten Indonesian students selected to take part in Seeds for the Future 2022 held in Bangkok, Thailand, are highly competent digital technology talents that we believe have great potential to become future leaders of technology. To further support them as national assets, we provide various opportunities for them to learn comprehensively, from the latest and future technologies, to knowledge on the importance of understanding international culture and international networks,” continued Jacky.

Furthermore, Jeffrey Wang, Vice President, Management Transformation, Huawei Indonesia, emphasized, "In addition to being part of the global commitment, Seeds for the Future is part of Huawei's ongoing commitment to Indonesia, entitled Huawei I DO. Based on this principal, we are committed to preparing at least 100 thousand digital talents by 2025. To date, we have prepared 64 thousand talents, or more than half of our target.”

Positive Support of the Indonesian Ecosystem for Huawei's Contribution

Abetnego Tarigan, Deputy II for Human Development of the Presidential Staff Office, hopes that the ten participants in Seeds for the Future 2022 will proceed to inspire the younger generation to fully support and realize a fully inclusive digital economy.
“Cooperatives and MSMEs need the support and solutions provided by digital talents in order to become part of the digital ecosystem and play an important role in enhancing the digital economy in Indonesia. The Presidential Staff Office really hopes that the programs developed by Huawei can open up opportunities for the next generation to become reliable digital talents who are able to answer the needs and challenges of the times," he said.

Addressing participants of Seeds for the Future 2022, Ir. Suharti, MA, Ph.D., Secretary General for the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology expressed her sincerest gratitude to Huawei for the company’s contribution in the development of Digital Human Resources in Indonesia, all the support that Huawei has provided through its technological research, as well as its commitment in ensuring the presence of digital services for every person, home, and organization, thus improving the lives of everyone.

"I express my sincerest appreciation for Huawei's support, which is manifested through the four pillars of Huawei's commitment, namely 'Huawei I Do' in realizing inclusiveness and digital strengthening in Indonesia and Huawei's dedication in upholding the principles of gender equality in the field of digital technology as well as in creating programs that produce high-quality digital talent in Indonesia”, she concluded. 

A positive response was also conveyed by Mira Tayyiba, Secretary General of the Ministry of Communications and Information of the Republic of Indonesia. “First of all, I would like to express my appreciation to Huawei Indonesia for its contribution to support our joint efforts in developing Indonesian digital human resource competencies, through the technology competition scholarship program and digital skills training. Indonesia is expected to grow into a nation that has excellent digital literacy and skills, becomes a generation of initiators, inventors, and innovators who can utilize digital technology for the common good, and be able to bring added value to digital technology.”

She went on to add that in this fully-digital era, the development of digital literacy and skills holds the same urgency as the development of digital infrastructure, as well as the strengthening of the government and the digital economy. Mira then adapted the narrative of Ren Zhengfei, Huawei founder and CEO, "we are migrating from a physical world to a digital one, and digital assets knows no boundaries.”

“Once again, I would like to convey my sincerest congratulations to the ten best students who were chosen to represent Indonesia in the various digital talent development programs through Huawei Seeds for the Future 2022. I hope that through this program we will not only understand how the latest technological innovations are, but also develop them according to the needs of the community and interpret it as an opportunity to accelerate the digital transformation in Indonesia, in order to recover faster and recover stronger," she concluded.

The participants of Seeds for the Future 2022 will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the culture of other countries, get a glimpse of the latest ICT technologies, and have the opportunity to acquire knowledge directly from the experts through hands-on practices. They will get the opportunity to apply their knowledge in competitions with participants from other countries.

This program also provides opportunities for young talents from Indonesia to build and maintain networks together with other students from different countries with different cultures and backgrounds. They will also explore the latest technological developments, improve career prospects, and get certifications from Global Fortune companies.

The ten students were selected to join the Seeds for the Future 2022 program after going through a selection process carried out by Huawei Indonesia. There are several programs that form the basis for Huawei to conduct the selection, such as the winning students of the Huawei ICT Competition, the best students from the Huawei Digital Talent Scholarship program with the Ministry of Communication and Information, the best students from the Huawei Study Internship program (Certified Independent Study Internship, MSIB) and also the best students from Huawei AI Digital Intelligence in collaboration with Universitas Gadjah Mada in Yogyakarta.

The Indonesian students participating in Seeds for the Future 2022 are Sigit Bayu Cahyanto, a student of Internet Engineering Technology at Universitas Gadjah Mada in Yogyakarta; Zulfan Jauhar Maknuny, a student of Electrical Engineering at Universitas Padjadjaran in Bandung; Faishal Zharfan, a Telecommunication Engineering student at Institut Teknologi Bandung; Zahra Salsabila Hernanda, a Technical Telecommunications student at the Politeknik Elektronika Negeri Surabaya; Jesika Laprina Manurung, Computer Science student at Institut Teknologi Del, North Sumatra; Anak Agung Krisna Ananda Kusuma, a student of Electrical Engineering at the Universitas Indonesia; Joseph Kristiano, an Informatics Engineering student at Universitas Surabaya; Fauzi Frahma Taliningsih, a Telecommunication Engineering student at Telkom University in Bandung; TTalcha Krusbeek Orrilia Audre Agatha Putri Setyabudi, a student of Electrical Engineering  at Universitas Brawijaya in Malang; and Aisha Salsabilla, a student of the Electronics and Instrumentation study program at Universitas Gadjah Mada in Yogyakarta.
