Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison Forges Strategic Partnership with Huawei to Spur RAN Integration to Create World-class Network for Indonesia

Indonesia’s leading telecommunications operator Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (IOH) has announced its strategic partnership with global ICT provider Huawei in the area of radio access network (RAN) integration, as part of its ongoing march towards innovations and the delivery of world-class digital experiences and better digital services in Indonesia.

On the sidelines of the Mobile World Conference (MWC) 2022 in Barcelona, Spain, IOH and Huawei signed the project partnership which focuses on the acceleration of the RAN integration from end to end, in order to scale up digital experience for customers and simultaneously generate cost-saving outcomes when the project comes into completion. RAN is one of the most important parts in the network, representing the customer interface and the fingertip of the network. Present during the signing ceremony were Vikram Sinha, President Director and CEO of IOH, Desmond Cheung, Chief Technology Officer of IOH, Dennis Xiao, Chief Executive Officer of Huawei Asia Pacific CNBG.

Vikram Sinha, CEO of IOH, remarked, ”Huawei is our strategic partner on RAN and E2E technologies. I am glad to select Huawei to support IOH’s customers in Indonesia. We believe that IOH and Huawei will succeed together through this close cooperation.”

Desmond Cheung, CTO of IOH, added, ”We have a long-term cooperation with Huawei. We believe that we can provide better customer experience with Huawei’s great support on the latest and advanced technologies, and generate synergy on savings with Huawei’s fast delivery.”

Meanwhile, Dennis Xiao, CEO of Huawei Asia Pacific CNBG, said, ”We truly believe IOH will be successful with leadership from the new management. With the help of our best experts, we will fully support IOH on latest technologies and fast delivery with our best experts.”

Saif Wang, President of Key Account Ooredoo at Huawei, also commented, "Our partnership with Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison aims to enable the company to achieve sustained growth and greater success through our innovative ICT solutions. We will provide our full support to Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison with high-quality network assurance to ensure the success of the new company business."

Under the partnership agreement, Huawei will provide the latest 4G and 5G technologies for IOH to power up customer experience, in line with IOH’s vision to become the most preferred digital telco of Indonesia and their larger purpose to connect and empower the people of Indonesia by accelerating the nation’s digital transformation.

IOH’s rapid integration following the merger between Indosat Ooredoo and Hutchison 3 in early January is proof that IOH is one of Huawei’s most robust key partners. As a newly merged entity and the second-largest telecommunications business in the country, IOH is in a better position to focus on driving synergies across its assets and network with greater scale and power in creating more values for customers and shareholders and accelerating Indonesia's digital transformation.

IOH’s long-term partnership with Huawei will also support the government in providing equitable access to digital technology in Indonesia by strengthening network infrastructure.
